The Colombo High Court this morning rejected a request to lift the freeze on former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s bank account in the parliamentary branch.

The request, made by Rambukwella’s lawyers, was denied by Judge Adithya Patabendi.

In June 2024, the Bribery Commission issued an order to freeze 16 fixed deposit accounts and three life insurance policies belonging to Rambukwella’s family over suspected fraudulent transactions.

Later, in July, the Commission moved to seize these assets, which included a total of Rs. 93.125 million held by Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters, and son-in-law.

Additionally, in September, the Colombo High Court imposed a ban on the use of two luxury apartments in Colpetty, purchased by Rambukwella’s son, Ramith, for Rs. 80 million and Rs. 65 million.
