In another setback for the ruling National People’s Power government, Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), Monti Ranatunga, has resigned from his position.
He was previously a secretary to the ministries of transport and small and medium enterprise development and a director general of the fisheries ministry as well as positions at the ministries of finance and economic development.
Reasons for his resignation are yet to be known officially.
However, a notice to his staff this morning (31) extends gratitude for their support in identifying the housing needs of the people during his time in office.
Commenting on his short experience with the NHDA, he says the institution has a handful of staff with good qualities, who understand their obligation to provide housing for the needy.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Dr. Senesh Bandara resigned from his post in late December last year.
He was followed by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), Ramal Siriwardena, who resigned from his position last week.
