The Government has announced plans to recruit 35,000 unemployed graduates into the state sector, according to Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara.

The proposal, aimed at reducing graduate unemployment, will be included in the upcoming 2025 budget.

Gunasekara revealed that the recruitment drive is part of the NPP government’s broader strategy to enhance public sector employment opportunities for graduates.

The 2025 budget, which will be presented to Parliament later this month, will outline the details of this initiative.

“This move is a key part of our commitment to providing job opportunities for qualified young people in the country,” Gunasekara said, expressing confidence that the plan will help address the growing unemployment rate among graduates.
