The IMF has suggested the implementation of a property tax from 2027-28, claimed former minister Champika Ranawaka.

However, the government is yet to respond to the call, he said.

According to Ranawaka, the IMF has added income from a property tax to the economic projections for the island.

He expected the president to make an announcement with regard to a property tax through his upcoming budget speech.
