A full-scale investigation has been launched into an incident in which a man named ‘Navy Dinesh,’ believed to be hiding in France and a key accomplice of Ganemulle Sanjeewa, made death threats over the phone to three police officers, including the Gampaha HQI, Crime Branch OIC of the Gampaha police, and several other officers.

According to police sources, these threats were made in retaliation for the recent arrest of Navy Dinesh’s father and brother in connection with a drug trafficking case. The threats have reportedly been ongoing since the 15th of last month. Phone analysis reports have confirmed that the calls originated from Dubai and France.

Following the murder of Ganemulle Sanjeewa, it has been reported that Navy Dinesh assumed leadership of the underworld gang he had previously been involved with. He has been operating this gang behind the scenes, and he and his associates are believed to be involved in various criminal activities, including murder and drug trafficking.

Navy Dinesh’s father and brother were arrested by Gampaha police a few days ago in relation to drug offenses. After their arrest, Navy Dinesh contacted the Gampaha HQI, the OIC of the Crime Branch, and the investigating police constable, threatening them with murder and the destruction of their families.

A special police team has been assigned to investigate the matter, and a report has been submitted to the courts, police sources said.
