Ministers, Deputy Ministers obtained MP’s fuel allowance even after assuming duties

Some Ministers and Deputy Ministers have obtained the fuel allowance which they are entitled for as MPs for some period after assuming of duties as cabinet ministers and deputy ministers, it was revealed yesterday (15).

This was revealed by the Right to Information Desk in Parliament in response to an inquiry made by some lobby reporters from the desk.

Accordingly, Ministers and Deputy Ministers including Bimal Ratnayake, K. D. Lal Kantha, Samantha Vidyaratne, A. H. M. H. Abeyratne, Krishantha Abeysinghe, Anura Karunatilaka, Kumara Jayakodi, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Mahinda Jayasinghe, Hansaka Wijayamuni, Eranga Weeratne, T. B. Sarath and Arun Hemacnhadra have made use of the fuel allowance till March 2025.

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, Ministers Nalinda Jayatissa, Vijitha Herath, Sunil Handunetti, Sunil Kumara Gamage, Upali Pannilage, Saroja Paul Raja, Ananda Wijepala, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Eranga Gunasekera, Prasanna Gunasenera, Anton Jayakodi, R. M. Jayawardene, Sunil Watagala, Namal Sudarshana and Ruwan Senarath has obtained the fuel allowance until April 2025.

Deputy Minister Wasantha Piyatissa has given up the fuel allowance from May 2025.

Minister Sunil Senevi, Deputy Ministers Sugath Tilakaratne and Sundaralingam Pradeep have obtained the fuel allowance till June this year.

Ratna Gamage, Aruna Jayasekera, Gamagedara Dissaayake, Munil Mulafar, Madura Seneviratne and Nalin Hewage have given up the fuel allowance till July this year.

Minister Harshana Nanayakkara, deputy Ministers Ruwan Ranasinghe and Susil Ranasinghe have given up the fuel allowance from August 2025.

Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekeran, Wasantha Samarasinghe, Anil Jayantha, Namal Karunaratne and Upali Samarasinghe have given up the fuel allowance from September this year.

Also, it was revealed that all Ministers and MPs are being paid the salaries and all allowances to their respective bank accounts.
