Move to sell Triposha company?

The nutritional supplement Triposha is in severe short-supply at most maternity and children’s hospitals, said Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa, president of doctors for medical and civil rights.

Triposha is given to mothers with iron deficiency and to malnourished children aged below three years.

For several years now, those children are not being given the nutritional supplement, said Dr. Sanjeewa, despite assurances by the government to resume the grant.

Last month, the state-run company producing Triposha was detached from the health ministry and given to the commerce ministry.

Dr. Sanjeewa urged the government to explain the basis for that.

Health trade unions have been alleging attempts to sell the company.
