The current National People’s Power (NPP) administration does not see itself as a short-term government, but one prepared to lead Sri Lanka for many years to come, Deputy Minister T.B. Sarath said.

Addressing a public event, the Deputy Minister emphasised that the government, elected through democratic means and with a public mandate, intends to remain in office well beyond a single five-year term.

He noted that meaningful social, economic, and political transformation often takes a decade or more to materialise, and warned that fear of such transitions has historically caused Sri Lanka to miss major global developments.
