Sri Lanka has strengthened its squad ahead of the upcoming T20I tri-series in Pakistan with the inclusion of young all-rounder Pavan Rathnayake, team sources confirmed.

Rathnayake has been drafted into the squad after several Sri Lankan players reportedly fell ill during the ongoing tour, prompting the need for additional reinforcements.

The 21-year-old recently made his ODI debut in the third and final match of Sri Lanka’s just-concluded ODI series against Pakistan.

The T20I tri-series, to be held in Rawalpindi, will feature Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe battling for the title as preparations intensify ahead of upcoming global white-ball tournaments.
