PM highlights rising cases of child abuse in schools

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has raised alarms over a noticeable increase in cases of child abuse occurring within school premises.

Speaking at a recent program organized by the Ministry of Education for school principals in the Colombo District, the Prime Minister stressed the urgent need to prevent any form of violence or mistreatment against schoolchildren.

Meanwhile, the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) disclosed that a total of 2,231 complaints related to child abuse were recorded up to April 30 this year.
