The Postal and Telecommunications Officers’ Association and the Joint Postal Trade Union Front have announced plans to commence a strike.
The strike is based on seven issues, including the filling of vacancies in the Postal Department.
Chinthaka Bandara, Joint Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Front, stated that a 48-hour symbolic strike will begin at 4 p.m. today (16th) and continue until the 18th.
He noted that there is a shortage of approximately 7,500 employees in the Postal Department, and this trade union action is being taken to demand a solution to the issue.
