SJB MP accuses President’s Office of tender fraud

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Jagath Vithana has accused the President’s Office of being involved in a tender fraud during a recent vehicle auction.

At a media briefing, Vithana alleged that certain ministers distributed vehicles among friends, bypassing proper procedures.

Noting that some ministers are still using these vehicles, he said that he has the registration numbers to support his claims.

Vithana has vowed to present this information in Parliament to demand an investigation into the matter.

The second phase of the vehicle auction by the Presidential Secretariat was last week.

A total of 26 vehicles were listed for sale. Out of these, 17 vehicles were successfully sold at the auction.

The auctioned vehicles included: BMW car, Ford Everest SUVs, Hyundai Terracan SUV, Land Rover SUVs, Mitsubishi Montero, Nissan Patrol vehicles, Nissan brand cars, Porsche Cayenne, SsangYong Rexton SUVs, Toyota Land Cruiser Sahara, V8 vehicles and a Mitsubishi Rosa air-conditioned bus.
