It is reported that a person with strong connections to the government has made an inquiry from a famous social media company whether it’s possible to remove old videos from their platforms.

It is said that this inquiry was made on a personal level from a person of Sri Lankan origin who holds a top position in the company operating from Singapore.

However, he has explained that if data is removed in such a manner, it will negatively affect his company internationally and that it will also lead to a breach of his contract.

It is learnt that the top official has advised them to utilise measures already available in the platform to remove such videos and to seek expert help from a team that can assist them in this process.

The ruling NPP government has faced a heavy battering on social media after videos comparing the contradictory statements made by their MPs, including President Anura Kumara Dissanayake while they were in opposition, have gone viral in the past few months.
