President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has ordered, in view of the disaster situation, the cancellation of the ‘Sri Lanka Day’ due to take place on 12, 13 and 15 of December.

The government had allotted Rs. 300 million to mark the day, which will now be diverted for relief provision.

The day has been declared to promote nationalism among the Sri Lankans and a decision is yet to be taken if it will be marked in the future.
