The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has revealed a significant loss of engineering talent, with 226 engineers migrating abroad over the past three years, amounting to nearly 20% of its engineering workforce.
According to the CEB, the vast majority of these professionals are electrical engineers, making up 85% of those who have left, followed by mechanical engineers (8%) and civil engineers (7%).
Most have secured employment in countries offering higher salaries and better opportunities, notably Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
