The International Cricket Council (ICC) has identified a set of venues across India and Sri Lanka for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, which the two countries will co-host.
The tournament will run from February 7 to March 8, 2026, with matches spread across both nations.
According to a report from Indian Express, five cities in India, namely Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai, are expected to stage games.
The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket venue, as per reports, is being considered as the frontrunner to host the final on March 8.
In Sri Lanka, venues in Colombo and Kandy have been shortlisted, while a third stadium is likely to be added later.
The island nation’s involvement is also significant due to an arrangement between the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board).
As part of that understanding, all matches involving Pakistan will be held in Sri Lanka, rather than India.
Should Pakistan reach the final, the championship match would also be shifted to a Sri Lankan venue, most likely Colombo.
The 2026 edition will feature as many as 20 teams, following the same structure used in the 2024 tournament.
Teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each group qualifying for the Super 8 stage. The semi-finals and final will follow after that phase.
The ICC is expected to finalise the venue list and match schedule in the coming months, after further inspections and consultations with both cricket boards.
