Do phrases like ‘word life’ and ‘you can’t see me’ mean anything to you?

If they do, we probably don’t need to tell you that John Cena has retired from professional wrestling.

For those that aren’t familiar, for years he’s been one of the most popular stars in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world – World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE.

On Saturday he had his final match, one which he actually lost, before hanging up his boots.

Cena has entertained WWE fans in the ring for almost 24 years and picked up the world title 17 times in the process.

In July 2024, he announced that he would retire in December this year after a farewell tour.

His final match was against Austria’s Gunther in Washington in the US, a match he lost after he tapped out.

Cena then left his boots in the centre of the ring before leaving – something that is a bit of a tradition for retiring wrestlers.
