The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced the commencement of registration for new political parties ahead of the 2025 elections.

Issuing a statement on Thursday (27), the EC urged all parties actively involved in politics and meeting the necessary qualifications to submit their applications for registration within the designated period.

The registration process will run for one month, with the deadline set for March 28, 2025.

Political parties interested in registering can either send their applications through registered post or have their secretaries deliver the documents directly to the Commission.
