Young MPs in the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) are wondering as to why a certain senior in the party escapes various accusations coming in the way of almost all of their MPs from the government side.
That figure has not been criticized for owning several fillings stations, even as three party figures have been accused of receiving filling stations through political patronage.
In the meantime, the accused trio – Gayantha Karunathilake, Harshana Rajakaruna and Kins Nelson – reacted to the accusations against them.
Karunatilake said in parliament the filling station owned by his family was acquired during the period of his grandfather.
Rajakaruna too, refuted the allegations, saying his family too got one through his grandfather, even before his father got married.
If such allegations are made outside parliament, legal action will be pursued against the accusers, he warned.
Nelson denied owning any filling station by his family, a fact, he said, well known to the speaker of parliament who too hails from Polonnaruwa.
