A university academic who was appointed as the governor of a province made headlines recently for their strict adherence to rules.

Known for playing by-the-book, the governor left quite an impression when a district secretary approached them for urgent approval of a critical matter.

However, the governor reportedly refused to meet the district secretary, citing his failure to schedule an appointment beforehand.

“If no prior appointment was made, I can’t meet you,” was the message relayed to the district secretary, who left empty-handed.

Later, the district secretary had reportedly entrusted the matter to two other senior officials, as it was an urgent matter but they too received the same response from the governor.

It seems that certain lawmakers of the new government are drawing significant attention from a powerful office in Pelawatte.

The grapevine has it that some individuals will receive stern warnings from the said office soon.

Reports suggest that higher authorities have received complaints about a few who, rather than following party principles, are operating according to their own whims and fancies.

As such, the powers that be at the office in Pelawatta have decided to refrain from giving prominence to those who fail to follow orders.

It is reported that some have have forgotten their primary goals and are acting out of line, prompting plans to summon them individually and remind them of their duties.
