Prison Media Spokesperson and Prison Commissioner Gamini B. Dissanayake said that Duminda Silva has not been given any special treatment in the prison hospital.

A written inquiry has been submitted to the Director General of Health regarding whether he should continue to receive inpatient treatment in the prison hospital.

The Director General of Health Services has appointed a board of medical personnel to make a decision regarding Duminda Silva.

He noted that the prisoner in question has already been detained under the supervision of prison doctors, as per the recommendations of the specialist doctor who treated him when he was handed over to the prison, and that the Director of the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital has noted that the prisoner should be treated under medical supervision.

He strongly denies the critical news published in various media outlets in the past claiming the provision of special facilities to Duminda Silva.

The media spokesperson said that no such special facilities had been provided to this prisoner, and more than 50 inmates at the prison hospital are receiving residential treatment currently.

Dissanayake further said that two preliminary investigations were conducted to investigate this allegation, and it was revealed that the prisoner in question had not been provided with a separate toilet or special facilities, according to site inspections and preliminary investigation reports.
