Sri Lanka’s main opposition party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has announced it will enter into a political collaboration with the United National Party (UNP) under a joint programme led by the SJB.

Opposition Leader and SJB leader Sajith Premadasa made the announcement following a Working Committee meeting held on Thursday (09), where the decision received unanimous approval.

The move had also been endorsed at two earlier Management Committee meetings.

Premadasa said the collaboration would focus on developing practical, people-centred policies aimed at addressing the country’s ongoing challenges.

He emphasised that while the two parties would move forward together, they would maintain their individual political identities.
