The All-Island Schools Games 2025 will commence tomorrow (10) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama, and will run for five days, concluding on the 14th.
Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwawa, announced that the event will be held with grandeur and wide participation from across the country.
Now in its 38th edition, this year’s Games will feature 31 team sports competitions alongside a full programme of track and field athletics events.
Students competing at national level were selected through a multi-tiered process, beginning with inter-house meets, followed by zonal, divisional, and provincial competitions.
Only the most outstanding performers from these stages have qualified to take part in the final All-Island Games.
According to organisers, nearly 15,000 students are set to compete in the team sports category, while around 15,000 athletes are expected to participate in the athletics events.
A total of 1,170 schools from all provinces will be represented.
