Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has dismissed recent social media claims suggesting the organisation is facing a financial crisis, calling the allegations “completely unfounded and misleading.”
In an official statement released this week, SLC reaffirmed its strong financial footing, asserting that it remains fully capable of managing ongoing operations while pursuing long-term strategic goals.
The Board emphasised that its current preparations to co-host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 with India, and to stage 11 matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in September, are progressing successfully—developments that, it noted, would not be possible without sound financial health.
To meet international standards, upgrades and refurbishments of cricket venues across the country are underway, SLC said, as part of broader efforts to strengthen Sri Lanka’s cricketing infrastructure.
Additionally, SLC announced a new Solar Power Project—a sustainability initiative aimed at reducing energy costs across international venues while supporting environmental responsibility.
“This ‘Green Initiative’ is designed to deliver a strong return on investment—supporting the environment, the future of the game, and the continued financial strength of the organization.
Meanwhile, SLC also said that its grassroots development program and the National Pathway Program continue without disruption.
The statement concluded by reaffirming SLC’s commitment to transparency, advancement, and the continued growth of the sport at both national and international levels.
