The Attorney General has informed the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court in writing today (13) that the recent recommendation made by him regarding the suspects involved in the murder of veteran journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge will be suspended temporarily.

The Attorney General had recently informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that three suspects who were charged with concealing evidence and influencing witnesses in the murder case of Lasantha Wickramatunga could be released from the case.

This legal advice was conveyed in a letter sent to the Director of the CID on January 27.
