The Government Dental Surgeons’ Association (GDSA) has announced a nationwide token strike on November 6, 2025, in protest against long-standing administrative deficiencies within the Dental Services Division of the Ministry of Health.

According to a statement issued by the association, the GDSA Executive Committee unanimously approved the decision to resort to trade union action after 18 months of unsuccessful attempts to resolve critical administrative issues through official dialogue with the Minister of Health and senior ministry officials.

The GDSA stated that several key issues affecting the functioning of government dental services have remained unresolved for over a year due to what it termed as “administrative inaction.”

They stressed that its members have been engaged in continuous discussions with health authorities, but no effective remedial measures have been taken.

Reiterating its commitment to the public health system, the GDSA clarified that the planned token strike is not politically motivated, but rather a collective step aimed at safeguarding the future of government dental services and demanding greater accountability within the health administration.
