A former employee interdicted for financial fraud at the State Fertilizer Corporation is currently serving as a cabinet minister under the new government, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam said.

Speaking in parliament yesterday (03), he questioned the credibility of a government that claimed to be fighting corruption when individuals involved in financial misappropriation held cabinet positions.

The Batticaloa district MP disclosed that the individual had faced accusations of financial misconduct at the State Fertilizer Corporation when Anura Kumara Dissanayake was Minister of Agriculture in the UPFA government under President Chandrika Kumaratunga.

The opposition lawmaker refrained from naming the cabinet minister, adding that he does not intend to vilify anyone.
