Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman has charged the government was planning to prohibit media reports against it and publishing again the remarks made by its leaders before coming to power.

A commission with powers is going to be formed to curb media freedom, he said, in reference to reports that the government is formulating a national media policy.

Ex-MP Udaya Gammanpila too, levelled a similar charge, saying a commission is to be appointed to inquire into private media that publish material tantamount to inconveniencing the government.
