Minister of Agriculture K.D. Lal Kantha slammed the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA)for opposing the government’s proposed education reforms without offering a viable alternative.

Minister Lal Kantha questioned whether the association had acknowledged the decline in the country’s education system and if they had drafted any constructive proposals of their own.

He stressed that the current proposal, put forward by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, is not final and can be amended based on public consultation and expert feedback.
