Large-scale transfers could disrupt future examination activities

The decision made by the Ministry of Public Administration to transfer a large number of personnel from the Department of Examinations at once under an annual transfer plan will have a severe impact on future examination activities.

According to internal sources, the situation has exacerbated due to the Ministry’s unilateral decision to proceed with the transfers without paying due consideration to the Department’s needs.

They also noted that such a large-scale transfer process has not been initiated previously.

Among those being transferred are several Tamil officers. While the number of Tamil officers transferred in other years is similar to the number appointed to the Department, no such measures have been implemented this time.

As examinations are conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil mediums, sources highlighted the need to have an adequate number of Tamil officers in the Examinations Department.
