Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman claims that newly appointed Director-General of Sri Lanka Customs Seevali Arukgoda was named in the findings of a parliamentary committee which investigated the controversial release of 323 red-flagged containers from the Colombo Port without Customs inspection.

Speaking at a press briefing in Colombo, Rahman questioned how someone facing such allegations could be appointed to a senior government position.

He further demanded to know why the government had failed to initiate disciplinary action against Arukgoda in light of these serious accusations.

Calling for transparency and accountability, Rahman urged the government to reconsider the appointment and to take immediate steps based on the committee’s findings to uphold the integrity of the Customs Department.
