Over 16,200 complaints to Mental Health Institute this year

The National Institute for Mental Health has received 16,298 complaints so far this year.

They relate to domestic violence, cybercrime, sexual harassment, education, drug and medicines related issues and sex transition.

The highest within a month, of 2,569, were received in August.

The Institute has joined with hithawathiya.com to provide solutions to mental health issues arising due to the internet.

The over-20 age group is most prone to such issues, it said.
