Sri Lanka expresses deep concern over Gaza situation, urges immediate ceasefire

Sri Lanka has expressed deep concern over Israel’s decision to seize control of Gaza, warning that the move risks further escalating violence and worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the government urged all parties involved to pursue diplomatic dialogue as the only viable path to achieving sustainable peace.

“Sri Lanka calls for an immediate ceasefire and stresses the importance of resolving differences through peaceful means,” the statement read.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at de-escalation and protecting civilian lives in accordance with international humanitarian law.
