Sri Lanka has extended its sincere gratitude to India for assisting in the evacuation of Sri Lankan nationals from Iran, amid escalating tensions in the region.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said India’s gesture of including Sri Lankans in its evacuation efforts under ‘Operation Sindhu’ reflects the strong and longstanding partnership between the two nations.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran announced on Saturday that it would extend evacuation support not only to Indian citizens but also to Sri Lankan and Nepalese nationals.

The embassy urged affected citizens to get in touch urgently, issuing dedicated contact numbers and advising them to reach out via Telegram or the emergency lines: +989010144557, +989128109115, and +989128109109.

Operation Sindhu was launched to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in conflict-hit zones of Iran. The inclusion of Sri Lankans in the operation has been welcomed as a timely and generous act of regional solidarity.
