The Government Radiological Technologists’ Association has raised serious concerns over the malfunctioning of critical medical equipment at the Colombo National Hospital.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, President of the Association Chanaka Dharmawickrama alleged that three of the hospital’s four MRI scanners are currently non-operational, leaving only one in use to serve the large number of patients requiring scans.

He also said that a kidney stone-breaking machine purchased for the Kandy National Hospital a year ago remains unused.

Dharmawickrama called on the Ministry of Health and other responsible authorities to urgently intervene and ensure that life-saving equipment is both maintained and utilised efficiently in hospitals across Sri Lanka.
