The United National Party (UNP) has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to protect Sri Lanka’s democratic, multi-party political system.

Issuing a statement today (15), the UNP confirmed its participation in upcoming discussions scheduled to be held at the Opposition Leader’s Office, under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa.

The party underscored the importance of uniting all political forces on a common platform while respecting each party’s individual identity and principles.

“We urge all parties to support this effort,” the UNP stated.

The UNP also welcomed the proposal to form a joint committee to facilitate dialogue between the UNP and the SJB, and confirmed its commitment to take part in those meetings.

The statement further noted that future joint initiatives could be developed in line with recent remarks made by the SJB and core objectives of the UNP.
