Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Chaminda Wijesiri has alleged that a government minister representing the Anuradhapura district extorted a property worth Rs. 60 million for just Rs. 10 million.

Wijesiri made the claims during a public meeting, raising concerns about widespread corruption within the current administration.

The MP stated that theft, fraud, and corruption have become more prevalent under the current government than ever before, citing this alleged incident as evidence of the serious ethical and legal breaches within the ruling party.

Wijesiri further revealed that the transaction involved an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Trade, which he claims had financially facilitated the deal.

He also named a female Member of Parliament who, according to him, had been involved in signing the deed for the property transfer.

Noting that the alleged actions were in clear violation of the law, Wijesiri announced that the very first complaint under the Proceeds of Crime Act would soon be filed against the accused minister.
