The leader of the Sarvajana Balaya, MP Dilith Jayaweera, said that he takes pride in seeing the secular Prime Minister wearing a white osari, carrying ‘atapirikara’ (eight-fold offering), and bowing with respect.

Speaking during the debate on the expenditure head of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, Jayaweera denounced the proposal of a “rainbow nation” put forward by the Minister of Culture, arguing that Sri Lanka does not need a rainbow nation but rather a nation rooted in Sri Lankan civilization.

He also emphasized that preserving the country’s cultural heritage should be a priority over adopting foreign ideological concepts.
