Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama has issued notices to three Pakistani nationals who served as managers of the Dambulla Thunders franchise in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 Tournament, directing them to provide statements to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for the Prevention of Sports-Related Offences.

The move comes amid an ongoing investigation into a match-fixing scandal linked to the player auction held at a Colombo five-star hotel ahead of the 2024 LPL season.
The notices were issued following a request from SIU officers handling the prosecution.
The statements of the three Pakistani managers are considered crucial to the probe against the team’s owner, Bangladesh-born British citizen Tamim Rahman, who is expected to be indicted under the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act before the Colombo High Court.

Chief Magistrate Bodaragama instructed the managers to appear in Colombo and provide their statements to the SIU by 25 November. The SIU has also been directed to submit a progress report on the investigation by 5 December.
