Former Sri Lankan fast bowling legend Chaminda Vaas has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the country’s cricket coaching system, cautioning against the indiscriminate awarding of Level 3 coaching certificates.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Vaas criticised the practice of granting top-tier coaching qualifications too freely, arguing that it risks undermining the development of the sport in Sri Lanka.

“A certificate must represent knowledge, skill, and dedication. Our game deserves quality coaches, not shortcuts,” he wrote.

Vaas, widely regarded as one of Sri Lanka’s finest bowlers, stressed that maintaining high coaching standards is essential to nurturing future talent and ensuring the long-term success of cricket in the country.
