Concerns raised over drug trafficker ‘Harak Kata’ fleeing the country

Intelligence warnings indicate the possibility of the organized criminal and drug trafficker known as ‘Harak Kata’ fleeing the country again after obtaining bail from courts.

Previously, criminals identified as ‘Kudu Salindu’, ‘Podi Lasi’, ‘Kanjipani Imran’, ‘Rotumba Amila’, ‘Karandeniya Raju’ and ‘Karandeniya Suda’ absconded after they were given bail.

Together with ‘Kudu Salindu’,‘Harak Kata’ was arrested in Madagascar and brought home in March 2023.

Despite investigations of around 18 months as they remained in detention under the PTA, no charge-sheet has been served so far, reports aruna.lk.

‘Harak Kata’ has just one court case pending against him, over his possession of seven grams of heroin when he was arrested in Weligama in 2017.
