The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum reports that more than 6,700 cybercrimes have been recorded so far this year.

According to the Forum, nearly 600 incidents involving online harassment, digital threats, and financial fraud have been traced to major social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

Officials say that women, youth, and children remain the most vulnerable groups, with an alarming rise in cases linked to cyberbullying, online scams, and various forms of digital exploitation.
