A vehicle belonging to the Presidential Secretariat was involved in an accident in the Thalawa area today (01).

The accident occurred while the group was returning to Colombo after participating in a ceremony held in Jaffna yesterday (31).

Accordingly, the injured were admitted to the Thalawa hospital via another vehicle that accompanied them, and later transferred to Anuradhapura hospital for further treatment.

The condition of two of the injured is critical, and they have been admitted to the intensive care unit, as reported by sources at the Anuradhapura hospital.

It is reported that the driver is attached to the Presidential Secretariat. The other personnel are from the Sri Lanka police department who work under the Presidential Security Division.

The police suspect that the accident was caused by the driver dozing off.
