The General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, has made serious allegations against a doctor employed at a government hospital in Kalmunai, claiming that he leads an extremist Muslim group known as ‘Super Muslim’ in the Eastern Province.

Joining a programme on YouTube with journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama, Ven. Gnanasara Thero accused the doctor of promoting a radical ideology, telling followers that the world is meaningless and discouraging children from pursuing education or reading books.

He further alleged that the doctor instructs his followers to devote their lives entirely to religious sacrifice.

He claimed that as a result of these teachings, many followers of the group have stopped sending their children to school, potentially undermining their future educational prospects.

Meanwhile, Cabinet spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed last week the presence of a Muslim extremist group in the Eastern Province.

He said that police and security forces are actively investigating the group, with heightened security measures in place.
