The Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) has filed a Right to Information (RTI) request with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), seeking clarity over an alleged attack on its Gampaha District office in Yakkala earlier this week.

The incident, which reportedly occurred around 6 a.m. on Tuesday (02), involved what the FSP claims was a group affiliated with the ruling Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)-led National People’s Power (NPP).

The party alleges the attackers forcibly entered the premises, assaulted those present, and took control of the office, located at 49/53/B, Salmal Uyana, Kirindiwela Road.

In its RTI request, the FSP has asked the IGP to provide detailed information on actions taken by police in response to the formal complaint lodged following the alleged incident, which includes unlawful entry, physical assault, and theft of property.

The move comes amid growing tensions between the FSP and the NPP — both offshoots of the JVP — and increasing concern over allegations of politically motivated violence.

The FSP claims that despite the severity of the incident, law enforcement has yet to take meaningful action.
