Private members’ bill to repeal Online Safety Act gazetted

The Private Members’ Bill presented to Parliament by New Democratic Front (NDF) MP Ravi Karunanayake to repeal the Online Safety Act No. 9 of 2024 has been gazetted.

According to the gazette notification, the Bill may be cited as the Online Safety (Repeal) Act, of 2025 when enacted.

The Online Safety Act, No. 9 of 2024 is repealed by the the Online Safety (Repeal) Act and any regulations made under the Online Safety Act,

No. 9 of 2024 shall be repealed from the date of enactment of the new Act.
