The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advisory for Sri Lanka, warning travellers of increased risks from mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and Zika virus.

The advisory urges caution, especially for pregnant travellers and those with existing health conditions, noting that emergency medical care is limited outside Colombo.

Travellers are advised to have comprehensive travel insurance and check the legal status of UK medications before departure.

Preventive measures against mosquito bites are strongly recommended during visits.
