The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reported that the country’s official reserve assets stood at USD 6,216 million at the end of October 2025, marking a slight decline of 0.4% compared to USD 6,244 million at the end of September.

The drop was primarily driven by a 1.3% decrease in foreign exchange reserves, which fell from USD 6,179 million to USD 6,100 million during the month.

In contrast, gold reserves recorded a significant increase of 36.6%, rising from USD 58 million to USD 80 million in October.

Analysts have attributed the surge to the rise in global gold prices during the same period.
