City of Dreams Sri Lanka marked the start of ‘Once Upon a Christmas,’ the integrated resort’s festive season theme, with its inaugural Christmas cake mixing ceremony on Level 23.
Softly lit in warm white, with a light, cloud-like styling, Level 23 gave guests the feeling of celebrating above the clouds. Live musicians in elegant long gowns performed from raised platforms, while a row of mixing troughs formed the centrepiece of the afternoon.
Guests, partners, invited stakeholders, and members of the management team were welcomed with festive drinks, served from beverage trolleys moving through the room.

The ceremony opened with a procession of bagpipers, who led the cake mixing ingredients into the room and added a traditional festive touch.
With wooden paddles in hand, guests gathered around the troughs to mix dried fruits, nuts, and spices, as a blend of signature beverages was added to each trough. A five-piece live choir performed throughout the ceremony, adding to the cheerful atmosphere as guests took turns at the mix.

“With the Christmas cake mixing ceremony above the clouds, we are opening our doors to the festive season,” said Kamal Munasinghe, Senior Vice President, Colombo Hotels, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and General Manager, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams Sri Lanka. “We invite our guests, partners, and friends to celebrate with us throughout the season, as City of Dreams becomes a place to gather, share, and create festive memories in the heart of Colombo.”
The mixture will now be left to mature over the coming weeks before it is baked into the Christmas cakes served at City of Dreams Sri Lanka throughout the season.
After the mixing, those gathered networked and socialised over a spread of festive canapés, including mini Christmas cakes, stollen, mince pies, and mini Yule logs. The ceremony marks the first of many ‘Once Upon a Christmas’ celebrations at City of Dreams Sri Lanka in the weeks ahead.
