The Commons, Sri Lanka’s first homegrown coffee house, relocated in early October to a spacious new home at 62 Kynsey Road, Colombo 7.

An expansive and beautiful heritage 100-year home located in an elegant neighborhood, the new Commons is filled with warmth, light, and comfortable spaces. The space is even more special at night, when the lighting and setting look nothing short of magical and ever-so-welcoming.

The all-new Gelato Bar by Peddler’s Inn also adds to the appeal, serving many delightful flavours.

There’s a revamped menu as well, offering some exciting new flavours along with the crowd favourites that people have grown to love over the last 21 years, including authentic Sri Lankan flavours and well-loved Western cuisine.

In more delicious news, Pastry Chef Kapila has created a whole new range of desserts for Commons, including tempting cakes and mousse varieties, which are bound to satisfy sweet lovers.

There’s also a wide selection of hot and cold coffees along with fabulous milkshakes – especially the ever-popular double chocolate milkshake – plus refreshing juices.

That’s not all at the new Commons Coffee House. With plenty of spaces to offer, there’s working spaces, cozy corners, private dining options, and outside seating too, ensuring there’s a space suited to just about everyone.

Looking ahead, special Sri Lankan-style feasts are on the cards, including scrumptious crab curry meals, so get ready to dig into food that will delight the taste buds in a space that delights the senses. The featured art by talented local artists adds to the sensory delight, with selected pieces available for sale.

The Commons menu is also available for takeaway and on Uber Eats and PickMe delivery services, while the Roti Cart is available for outside catering services along with a selection of buffet and cocktail menus so guests can enjoy Commons food at home at private events.

There’s one more special offering – Cheryl Gooneratne’s salon is also located on the premises, offering all hair care and styling services.

The Commons is open for breakfast from 8 a.m. onwards and remains until 11 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
